Position: Electronic & Instrumentation Technician/Technologist/Engineer

Term: 1 Year, Full-Time Position

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Electronics & Instrumentation Technical Services Lead, the Electronics & Instrumentation Technician/Technologists/Engineer are responsible for providing technical support to the electronics and instrumentation areas. (Note that the individual candidate will be assigned one of the three following titles: Technician, Technologist or Engineer, depending on their formal post secondary training.) This position will be a 1 year term contract starting as soon as possible.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are the responsibilities and general duties of these positions but are not inclusive of all the detailed tasks that may be required:

  • Be a key provider of quality electronic and instrumentation services as a member of a high-performance team led by the Electronics and Instrumentation Technical Services Lead
  • Collaborate with project teams by providing instrumentation and electronic systems design, fabrication, and testing
  • Provide electrical/electronic systems and instrumentation services including: calibration, programing, and operation, to projects involving field/lab design and testing of vehicles, equipment and machinery
  • Provide analysis and report writing services of the key measurements and findings on projects in a timely manner
  • Integrate electrical and electronic systems into industrial vehicles and stationary equipment with technologies such as CAN Networks (hardware and software), PLC/HMI programs and other associated design tools
  • Maintain the calibration of instrumentation, data acquisition, and testing equipment, to ensure those devices are available to projects as needed, and that they meet PAMI QA requirements
  • Provide design services and support manufacturing of vehicle electronic cable systems (wire harnesses)
  • Troubleshoot electronic and instrumentation problems and implement solutions
  • Support and maintain a safe, happy, and healthy work environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • General use of equipment – instrumentation, electronics and computer hardware and software, computer networks, programs and applications
  • Experience in the agriculture, mining or transportation industries is preferred
  • Experience with implementing and adjusting programmable logic controllers and control systems are requirements
  • Have a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and understanding
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A team player with a reputation for safe and high-quality work and a demonstrated self- starter

Credentials and Experience:

  • Applicable diploma or certificate as a technician or technologist; or a university degree in a relevant field
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis and communications, as well as familiarity with software supporting electronic design, PLC’s, wiring harness design, data acquisition, instrumentation, etc.
